February 26, 2026

The first NACRP member call of the year was on Thursday, February 26th from 12-1pm PT/ 2-3pm CT/ 3-4pm ET.

Call Topic Description: The tech industry has doubled down on its investment into the AI model. The advancement of this model comes at the expense of communities that are already impacted by climate change, disinvestment, legacy pollution and environmental racism. NACRP member Brandy Brooks led our discussion and guided us through this session.

Here’s a look at what we discussed:

  • Welcome + introductions
  • Framing the conversation on AI— Brandy Brooks, One Square World
  • BEA’s introduction to their AI project— Linda Saleh,  Building Equity and Alignment for Environmental Justice
  • Reporting from the frontlines— Tristan Thomas, Director of Policy at Alternatives for Community & Environment
  • Funding and policy advocacy around AI—Jada Sherman, Hive Fund for Climate and Gender Justice
  • Breakout conversations + group sharing
  • Closing reflections

This call was not only an opportunity to learn about a pressing topic of concern, but a space for members to collectively share their thoughts and knowledge on the impacts of AI.
